“Les Goliaths sont les plus grands et les plus remarquables des coléoptères connus.”

“The Goliaths are the largest and most remarkable of the known beetles.”

Jean-Baptiste Lamarck

Lamarck, Système des animaux sans vertèbres, Paris, 1801, p. 175.
Goliath beetles live in the dense tropical forests of Africa, where humidity, canopy cover, and decaying wood create the precise conditions their life cycle depends on. Their larvae feed on organic matter in forest soil, helping recycle nutrients back into the ecosystem. As adults, they rely on sap flows and fruit from mature trees.

They are part of the quiet machinery that keeps forests alive.
